Company History
SkillSoft is a leading provider of e-learning and performance support solutions for global enterprises, government, education and small to medium-sized businesses. SkillSoft enables business organizations to maximize business performance through a combination of comprehensive e-learning content, online information resources, flexible learning technologies and support services.
SkillSoft was incorporated in Ireland on Aug. 8, 1989. On Sept. 6, 2002, SmartForce completed a merger with SkillSoft Corporation, and on Nov. 19, 2002, the combined company became known as SkillSoft PLC. On May 14, 2007 SkillSoft completed the acquisition of NETg from The Thomson Corporation. In May 2010, was acquired by SSI Investments III Limited, a company formed by funds sponsored by each of Berkshire Partners LLC, Advent International Corporation and Bain Capital Partners, LLC.

SmartForce, previously CBT Systems, was a leader in IT courseware and the 2002 merger brought together the leaders in IT and business skills e-learning courseware.
