APICS, the Association for Operations Management

About APICS

APICS, the Association for Operations Management, is a global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing, and logistics. Since 1957, individuals and companies have relied on APICS for its superior training, internationally recognized certifications, comprehensive resources, and worldwide network of accomplished industry professionals.

SkillSoft recognizes the importance of APICS to many of its clients, particularly those in the manufacturing, distribution and service sectors, and although SkillSoft does not offer courseware that is aligned toward APICS certification programs, our courses cover a wide range of subjects that support the professional development of APICS certification holders, and the time spent in training with many of SkillSoft courses can be applied toward the accumulation of professional development points, which are required to maintain a certification.

Certification

APICS offers two certification programs, Certified in Production and Inventory Management, and Certified Supply Chain Professional. APICS certifications are recognized worldwide as standards of professional excellence and quality within the manufacturing and service industries.

Maintaining a certification

The APICS Certification Maintenance Program uses professional development points as a way for certification holders to track their certification maintenance activities. APICS CPIM and APICS CSCP designees must earn a total of 75 professional development points within five years of receiving their designation. APICS CFPIM designees must earn a total of 100 professional development points in the same 5-year time period.

APICS offers certification holders a wide range of activities for achieving professional development points to fit into each person's professional circumstances and his/her career development plans. (See the APICS site here for full details.) Continuing Education is among the many activities that APICS approves for Professional Development Points and courses taken in any of the subject areas listed below would be eligible.

SkillSoft's Business Skills and IT courseware libraries include hundreds of courses that align with these subject areas for which learners may be eligible for 3 professional development points for each course completed.
