SkillSoft Releases Dialogue Virtual Classroom

Innovative technology helps users create and deliver effective live and on- demand enterprise training

NASHUA, N.H., April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of content resources and complementary technologies for integrated enterprise learning, announced today the availability of SkillSoft Dialogue(TM), a virtual classroom solution for creating and delivering effective live and on-demand learning. Exemplifying the next-generation of virtual classroom technology, Dialogue offers templates and tools to make even first-time use easy, as well as access to all SkillSoft-owned content, and a licensing structure that puts design tools in the hands of subject-matter experts throughout the enterprise.

SkillSoft has designed Dialogue for use as a stand-alone product or with SkillPort(R), SkillSoft's learning management system, for tracking and managing live, recorded, and on-demand events. Dialogue's recorded and on- demand events can also be integrated with other SCORM-compliant LMSs.

Dialogue Live, the delivery environment for virtual sessions, includes a range of features to enrich live learning experiences -- including whiteboarding, application and desktop sharing, highlighting, and hand- raising. Users can schedule events in advance, create them on the fly, or record them for later access.

Dialogue also offers a unique presentation planning support with Dialogue Design, which gives learning professionals and subject-matter experts the ability to quickly create learning sessions comprised of PowerPoint(R) slides, PDFs, Web pages, and other documents and materials by simply pointing and clicking. Users can also incorporate audio, trackable quizzes, and audience polls to increase interest and interaction. Step-by-step guidelines, context- sensitive help, and SkillSoft-designed templates make assembly fast and easy and help create effective and engaging sessions. Users can easily edit and update recorded sessions to keep learning fresh and relevant, as well as build detailed outlines to facilitate presentations or help others deliver sessions consistently and effectively. Integrated with Dialogue Design, Dialogue Resource gives users access to tens of thousands of SkillSoft learning objects to supplement presentations. Users can capture screenshots from any SkillSoft-owned course, book, job aid, or other content resource -- located instantaneously through SkillSoft's Search-and-Learn(TM) technology -- for use within a Dialogue session.

"Dialogue is designed to give customers the ability to take blended learning to the next level by using a variety of components and incorporating techniques to increase interaction and learner feedback," said Lee Ritze, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development for SkillSoft. "Dialogue addresses a market gap by providing much more than delivery technology. Its comprehensive toolset, vast content repository, and integration with learning management platforms give learning and business professionals the ability to assemble and manage effective and practical programs."

"Blended learning is being recognized as one of the most effective ways to address critical, strategic training needs," said Josh Bersin, president of Bersin & Associates and author of The Blended Learning Book. "Dialogue is a solution that can be used to meet short-term information needs such as product updates and announcements or for the creation of complex programs that address enterprise-wide training needs. Products such as these also make efficient use of subject experts' time and talent."

"We are attracted by the ability to quickly develop materials that can be delivered through Dialogue and also be tracked by an LMS," said Ron Goulet, senior service trainer, Waters Corporation. "While we can use Dialogue as a simple meeting tool, its focus on increasing the effectiveness of training without compromising speed to market is even more valuable."

"SkillSoft's leadership in e-learning made it easy to decide to add Dialogue to our program," said Paul O'Brien, dean of institutional technology for Indian River Community College. "Initially, we will use Dialogue Live for class project activities and collaboration in combination with classroom teaching. We plan to later make Dialogue Design available to faculty for the development of object-based course materials."

Dialogue pricing is flexible. SkillSoft offers licensing models based on number of concurrent users, time used, or unlimited, enterprise-wide use. All licensing models include Dialogue Live, Dialogue Design, and Dialogue Resource. For more information, call 877-545-5763 or go to http://www.skillsoft.com/dialogue.
