SkillSoft Debuts 500+ New e-Learning Assets in Fiscal Third Quarter

84 New Courses and 445 New Books24x7 Titles Broaden Already Extensive e-Learning Resources

NASHUA, N.H., Dec 14, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of content resources and complementary technologies for integrated enterprise learning, today announced major additions to the company's extensive learning resources over the last fiscal quarter. The bumper crop of new content assets covers the entire spectrum of enterprise learning needs, from formal training to informal learning resources across a wide range of business and technology subjects. The development work accomplished during the last 90 days exceeded publicly-stated goals set for the quarter; the company also surpassed goals established for first and second quarters.

"Anyone seeking an e-learning partner should ensure the company is committed to providing a constant flow of current and comprehensive e-learning resources," said Lee Ritze, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development. "Not only do we continually develop new courses, but we also retire courses when they have outlived their usefulness. This process results in a constantly refreshed course catalog that reflect actual customer demand."

"Our commitment to our customers is evident in our ongoing investments in R&D," said Colm Darcy, executive vice president of research and development. "Last year we added more than 2,500 new titles to our learning collections and we expect to exceed that number this year."

SkillSoft has also made significant investments in complementary technologies throughout the year. For example, SkillPort(R) 6, a major upgrade to SkillSoft's learning management platform, was introduced in February, and SkillSoft(R) Dialogue(TM), a virtual classroom technology product, was introduced in August.

New content resources added between August 1 and October 31, 2004 span a range of e-learning resources, including courseware, SkillSimulations, Test Prep exams, Express Guides(TM), mentoring services and Books24x7(R) Referenceware(R) titles. Highlights include:

  • IT Learning Resources: SkillSoft added 63 new courses to its IT Skills and Certification Collection, bringing the total number of IT courses available to more than 2,250 (titles in North American English and ten localizations). Among new courses were those supporting the growing demand for Internet security credentials, such as the Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) certification. The company also added 20 Oracle Express Guides providing instruction for Oracle 10g.

  • BusinessLearning Resources: SkillSoft added 21 new courses to its Business Skills Collection, bringing the total number to more than 2,280 courses (titles in North American English and 15 localizations). The latest additions include 12 courses aligned with the newly released A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide(R)) - Third Edition. The company also added five new SkillSimulations, bringing the total number of these rich, multi-path scenarios to 98.

  • Books24x7 Referenceware: New titles were added to all Referenceware collections during the quarter, and a new collection, called EngineeringPro(TM), was introduced in August. The total number of Books24x7 titles available is now at 6,658. Specifically, 284 titles were added to ITPro(TM), 144 titles to BusinessPro(TM), and 17 titles to FinancePro(TM). The best-selling The Toyota Way, by Dr. Jeffrey Liker, was among new titles added to the ExecSummaries(TM) Collection.

SkillSoft customers licensing SkillChoice, the company's multi-modal learning solution, have immediate access to all new resources within licensed collections. Books24x7 Referenceware subscribers can immediately access all new Referenceware resources added throughout the duration of their contracts.
