Skillsoft, the international learning solutions provider, reinforces today its position in the compliance space by announcing the release of a new tablet-ready Food Allergy Awareness course for the UK. The new UK course adds to the 64 Skillsoft hospitality-specific titles already available.
With new EU regulations due to be enforced commencing mid-December 2014, it is more important than ever that all food service staff, no matter what size of their business, are aware of their obligations to customers with food allergies and intolerances. Allergens covered by the new laws now extend to 14 top allergens: celery, cereal containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, soya and sulphur dioxide. As well as labelling and menu requirements, all staff are required to know how to appropriately respond to customer queries about allergens. Local Environment Health Officers are being trained to enforce the regulations and non-compliance could result in large fines.
Skillsoft's Online Food Allergy Awareness Course will provide employees with the knowledge required to respond to customers who need to avoid certain ingredients because of an allergy. The course makes clear how your business can best meet the new regulations and helps identify the situations when employees need to refer queries to managers, or find back-up information, in order to keep your customers and your business safe.
