SkillSoft Releases Courseware to Support Human Resources Professional Certification

NASHUA, N.H., March 15, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of content resources and complementary technologies for integrated enterprise learning, today announced the availability of a 12-course series designed specifically to support the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification program. The company also plans to release additional courses aligned to the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification later this year. The PHR and SPHR certification programs are managed by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Continuing education is a way to keep up on issues important to the profession," said Terry Grybosh, credential programs manager for SkillSoft. "Many of our customers have expressed high interest in offering certification opportunities to their HR employees and consultants."

The 12 SkillSoft courses mapped to the PHR exam represent more than 20 hours of instruction and cover topics such as affirmative action, employee relations and benefit programs, sexual harassment, union and non-union work environments, and employee recruitment, selection and compensation.

SkillSoft's was also given approved provider status by the HRCI, effective until December 2008. The company offers almost 300 HR-related courses that can be used by professionals to maintain PHR, SPHR, and GPHR certification status.
