Webinar to Discuss NASBA Standards for Courseware Meeting CPE Requirements Scheduled for May 19
NASHUA, N.H., March 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of content resources and complementary technologies for integrated enterprise learning, today announced that more than 700 business and IT courses are compliant with the requirements of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) for meeting continuing professional education (CPE) requirements. Continuing education is an essential part of the professional development for certified public accountants (CPAs) and a requirement in most states in order to maintain an active CPA license. NASBA serves as a forum for the 54 U.S. boards of accountancy and sponsors a variety of programs and services designed to enhance the effectiveness of its member boards.
"Offering courses that meet NASBA's continuing education requirements is important to many of our clients, especially those in financial and professional services sectors," said Terry Grybosh, credential programs manager for SkillSoft. "SkillSoft invested more than a year and millions of dollars in redesigning these courses to meet NASBA standards for CPE. Of the four largest suppliers of e-learning courses, we're the only one to offer courses meeting current NASBA requirements for continuing professional education."
The 700-plus SkillSoft courses approved for CPE cover a wide range of topics, including communication skills, consulting skills, project management, auditing, regulatory requirements, and desktop applications such as the Microsoft Office suite and Crystal Reports.
SkillSoft will also be conducting a free webinar, "Professional Education Focus: Understanding NASBA Course Requirements," on Thursday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar will be hosted by Grybosh and Sally Hovis, vice president of learning design for SkillSoft. The webinar is designed to help training managers purchasing "NASBA-compliant" courses for learner populations understand the detailed instructional design and development standards associated with current CPE requirements. The webinar will describe important changes that were part of NASBA's new standards for continuing professional education, introduced in January 2004, and the impact on e-learning courses.
