SkillSoft Earns ASTD Institute Certification for e-Learning Course

"Developing Fundamental Critical Thinking Skills" Is Awarded e-Learning Courseware Certification

NASHUA, NH - May 30, 2002 - SkillSoft Corporation (NASDAQ: SKIL), a leading provider of e-learning courseware and ReferenceWare for business and IT professionals, today announced that its course "Developing Fundamental Critical Thinking Skills" was awarded e-Learning Courseware Certification by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). Courseware certification is earned after rigorous evaluation of a course's usability and instructional design.

To achieve certification, courses must meet rigorous standards for learner interface, production quality, and adherence to instructional design elements such as learning objectives, feedback and assessment. These standards were developed by the ASTD Certification Institute Standards Committee, composed of e-learning experts, academicians, ISD practitioners, and other industry leaders.

"We're pleased that our course meets the ASTD Institute's certification standards. Since the critical thinking skills course is exemplary of SkillSoft's general development guidelines for all courseware, we believe this certification further validates our instructional design and development methodology," said Lee Ritze, vice president of marketing and professional services. "The SkillSoft methodology has been key to the acceptance of our courseware by more than 500 corporate clients worldwide."

"This certification provides a valuable selection tool for trainers and suppliers when they're faced with the overwhelming array of e-courseware," said Tom Kelly, chair of ASTD's Certification Institute Board of Directors. "Courses that bear the certification seal demonstrate the characteristics associated with excellent instruction."
