To provide an overview of the different systems supported by Windows 2000 and to show how to manage, secure, and share FAT, FAT32, and NTFS files and folders

Target Audience
Students preparing for Microsoft exam 70-215 and/or 70-210

Prerequisites
Working knowledge of Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 from administrative, support, and architectural perspectives

identify the physical structure components of a hard disk, and recognize how file systems are used to store data on a disk.

define different types of file systems, state the purpose of dial-boot disks, recognize how to change the format of a volume, and convert a volume.

change the file system of a volume from FAT to NTFS using the Convert command at the command prompt.

recognize the purpose of shared folders, identify the different sharing options, and create and publish a shared folder.

create a shared folder in Windows Explorer and publish a new shared folder in the Active Directory.

identify the available shared folder permissions, and set up a shared folder with different permissions for different groups.

use Windows Explorer to give a group Change permission on the client base shared folder and use the Computer Management Console to give a group Read permission on the client base shared folder.
