Overview/Description
Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks (ONT) 1.0 course is highly recommended for any individual responsible in any way for the maintenance, operation, or troubleshooting of voice over IP (VoIP) networks, where quality of service (QoS) is a design consideration. Additionally, the ONT 1.0 course is targeted toward those responsible for securing or managing wireless local area networks (WLANs). This training is also recommended for individuals seeking certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
Target Audience
This course is designed for any individual seeking a basic understanding of computer network IP subnetting, or non-technical individuals who are seeking preparation for advanced technical certification.
Prerequisites
The ONT 1.0 course focuses on the technology required for optimizing networks. To fully benefit from this course, the student must be familiar with general networking concepts and have Cisco router/switch operation and configuration experience. Successful completion of the following courses (or equivalent experience) is strongly recommended:
Expected Duration (hours)
30.0
Lesson ObjectivesDescribe the converged network requirements within the Cisco conceptual network models, with a focus on performance and wireless security
Describe Cisco VoIP implementations
Describe the need to implement QoS and the methods for implementing QoS on a converged network using Cisco routers and Catalyst switches
Explain the key IP QoS mechanisms used to implement the DiffServ QoS model
Configure Cisco AutoQoS for Enterprise

Exclusive Bonus - IP Subnetting Mini-Course
Many network administrators are baffled by the use of IP subnetting and subnets. BCMSN includes a mini-course that will introduce the concepts of IP subnetting and subnets. After reviewing this mini-course learners will understand:- Decimal to Binary conversion
- Classful IP addresses and Private IP address ranges
- How and why we use Subnetworks
- Calculating the number of Subnets and Hosts available using a custom Subnet mask
- Calculating the Network number, broadcast address, and valid range of host addresses when given an IP address and custom Subnet mask
