Overview/Description
By the time they reach the Six Sigma® Improve phase, organizations have a solid understanding of how and why their processes fail to meet customers' expectations. Organizations use the Design of Experiments (DOE), a key methodology of the Six Sigma Improve phase, to quantify with statistical precision the factors that are causing this gap. Well-designed experiments result in effective process redesign, and ultimately, improved organizations. This course explains how to design and implement efficient and effective improvement experiments. Six Sigma is a registered Trademark of Motorola Corporation, and all right, title, and interest in Six Sigma belongs to Motorola.
Target Audience
Candidates for Black Belt certification; managers/executives overseeing personnel involved in the implementation of Six Sigma in their organization; consultants involved in implementing a Six Sigma proposal; and organizations implementing a Six Sigma project
Expected Duration (hours)
2.0
Lesson Objectivesidentify the benefits of understanding why to use the Design of Experiments methodology.
match the types of experiments in the Design of Experiments methodology with examples.
match the key elements of the Design of Experiments methodology with examples.
identify the benefits of planning and setting up process improvement experiments according to the Design of Experiments methodology.
match the steps for planning experiments according to the DOE methodology with examples.
identify correct examples of the steps for setting up process improvement experiments according to the DOE methodology in a given scenario.
identify the benefits of implementing the Design of Experiments methodology.
