Workshop Series Highlights How Learning Professionals Can Leverage Training to
Achieve Strategic Business Objectives

NASHUA, N.H., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkillSoft PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of comprehensive e-learning content and technology products for business and IT professionals within global enterprises, today announced that it will host half-day workshops for learning professionals to discuss the challenges associated with the next generation of corporate learning and strategies that can be used to successfully link learning to the organization's human capital and performance management systems. The workshop series, "Beyond Traditional Corporate Learning: New Strategies for Maximizing Business Impact," will take place in 29 cities across the United States and Canada. The series kicks off on September 6, 2006 in Seattle, Wash., and will conclude on December 13, 2006 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

"The fundamental challenge facing learning professionals today is how to use learning to achieve strategic business objectives. New learning strategies can be utilized to help drive employee performance to achieve business goals. Basic skills and compliance training alone are no longer enough to meet this challenge," said SkillSoft President and CEO Chuck Moran. "This workshop enables organizations to pinpoint their current place on the corporate learning ladder and chart an appropriate course for the next generation of corporate learning."

The key presenter and topics at the workshop include:

  • Dennis Brown, Senior Director Market Development, SkillSoft. A co-founder of SkillSoft, Brown is a leading authority on blended learning, e-learning for the knowledge economy, organizational
effectiveness, and the ROI of learning. Over the last 12 years, Brown has been published in trade publications and has presented at hundreds of conventions and seminars.
  • Learning Growth Model: A Blueprint for Corporate Change -- Attendees will learn how to perform a high-level skills gap analysis to identify strengths, opportunities, and readiness of their organizations. They will gain insight into the learning growth model and inevitable challenges at each stage of the process, and find out how the perception of learning evolves within an organization and the ensuing program changes that must occur to keep the pace with the changing perceptions.
  • Next Generation Blended Learning -- This session has been designed to enable attendees to discover "next generation" blended learning and decide where it can have the greatest impact in their organization.
Topics include the eight phases of learning and their role in the successful implementation of blended learning programs. This portion of the program also provides a forum for peers to share the hurdles their
organizations face and the measures that have been taken to overcome them.
  • Achieving Business Impact -- This portion of the program offers tips on how to sharpen communication skills to better articulate needs to executives and business peers and craft benefits statements tailored to their hot button issues. Attendees will learn to develop programs and processes for measurable business impact and organizational buy-in.

Each half-day workshop will address developing customized learning programs, collaboration over the Web, and the need for informal learning. Frequent discussion, interactive exercises, and networking breaks will give attendees the opportunity to share personal experiences and learn best practices. Attendees will learn about concepts and approaches available to help their organizations advance their learning programs to demonstrate real business impact and receive informative white papers further discussing topics covered during the workshop, as well as information about getting started in e-learning.
