SkillSoft Sponsors Seminar Series on Continuous Learning and Its Impact on Corporate America

Free Seminars in 40+ U.S. and Canadian Cities Cite Results From ASTD, U.S. Labor Bureau, and Other Studies on Workforce Trends and Projections

NASHUA, N.H., March 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkillSoft Corp. (Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of e-learning courseware and ReferenceWare for business and IT professionals, today announced a seminar program on continuous learning and its impact on business, to be delivered in 41 major cities throughout the United States and Canada from April through June. The seminars, titled "Continuous Learning in Challenging Times," are designed for human resource executives and training managers seeking to learn more about the global business, demographic, and social trends shaping employee development initiatives. The seminars will also be delivered in London and other cities in the United Kingdom in June.

The free seminars will offer attendees discussion on the role of structured and non-structured learning, the link between career development and training to employee satisfaction, and the role of e-learning and the Internet in today's learning and performance management processes. The seminar will cover findings from a variety of studies and surveys, such as the 2001 study "A Vision of e-Learning for the America's Workforce," developed through the collaboration of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and the National Governors Association.

The seminar will also discuss the correlation between attracting and retaining workers and corporate learning programs. Ongoing learning programs and career development opportunities were among the attributes most highly valued by employees - typically outranking pay - in separate surveys conducted by Robert Half, the ASTD, and the Conference Board. In the recently published "2002 State of the Industry Report," the ASTD found that companies continue to increase their investments in employee training, with increasing investments in e-learning as part of corporate training initiatives.
