Free Seminars in 25 U.S. and Canadian Cities Designed to Help Companies Calculate Business Value of Learning Programs

NASHUA, N.H., Oct 30, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- SmartForce PLC (dba SkillSoft, Nasdaq: SKIL), a leading provider of e-learning courseware and referenceware for business and IT professionals, today announced a seminar series designed to assist human resources and training executives in identifying and demonstrating the business value of various learning initiatives. The seminar series will be delivered in 25 major cities throughout the United States and Canada from November through December. The seminars, titled "ROI for Effective e-Learning," are targeted to directors and managers seeking to measure training's impact on their companies' bottom lines.

The free seminars address best practices for analyzing the ROI of various types of learning programs, the business factors involved in ROI analyses, how ROI studies can assist in solving business problems, and case studies illustrating the use of ROI results. The seminars will show attendees how to design ROI studies in five typical areas of cost justification: classroom expenses, employee turnover, training duration, employee productivity, and legal costs. Each seminar will also include a workshop during which attendees will identify and discuss internal learning programs from their own organizations potentially suitable for ROI analysis. All attendees will receive an extensive list of resources, including articles, Internet discussion boards and communities, and books, for further study.
