We announced today our position in the recently released Gartner Magic Quadrant for Corporate Learning Systems (CLS), so I’d like to take the opportunity to share with you a bit more about SkillPort and why we think it helps our clients execute successful learning programs.
Gartner placed SkillSoft in the “Visionaries” quadrant after their assessment of SkillPort and extensive interviews with customers. The five core criteria for a CLS to be included in this Gartner report were: 1) LMS, 2) LCMS/Content authoring tools, 3) Virtual classrooms and multimodal e-learning delivery, 4) Social learning and 5) Professional services/Customer support.
SkillSoft strengths cited in Gartner’s analysis included SkillPort’s configuration/ personalization and Search-and-Learn, our content development/customization tools and our integrated collections of off-the-shelf content. Gartner also noted that customers they interviewed gave SkillSoft high marks for post-sales care/account management and ongoing communications and support. Gartner commented that SkillSoft’s overall customer experience through the entire relationship life cycle was better than industry averages, which is great validation of our own recent customer surveys.
Given that SkillSoft historically has focused on developing the capabilities our customers have needed most, we see Gartner’s assessment as a strong recognition of our strategy. At the same time, we are now accelerating our level of investment to build out SkillPort’s capabilities to meet the functionality needs that the market expects from LMS platforms.
For example, in our latest software release, SkillPort 7.1, new improvements have been made to further advance the usability and reporting features of the platform. Deep linking to SkillPort assets provides learners easier access to locate resources and more ways to share relevant content. Users and administrators also benefit from enhanced notifications and reminders on pending tasks, while new reporting features allow organizations to better assess and track ongoing progress with new customizable reporting templates.
As a result, we can anticipate that we’ll see the recognition from our customers and from LMS industry reports like Gartner’s continue to rise. What will remain consistent is our sharp focus on executing on our combined strengths in content coverage/innovation, our platform capabilities, and our strong experience in working with customers to align our solutions with business needs and then successfully implement to deliver customer value.
