Thank you to everyone who helped make 2012 SkillSoft Perspectives a tremendous success. More than 1000 learning professionals representing nearly 450 organizations attended the event this year! It was great to see all of our customers gathering together to “Motivate, Innovate, Learn” to drive value through learning. More than 60 clients presented at the event and shared their insights and successful programs with the attendees.
One of the most-talked about events at the conference was the announcement of SkillPort 8™, a revolutionary cloud-based learning experience that contextually organizes relevant and aligned learning around the user instead of the traditional course-catalog approach of other Learning Management Systems (LMS). SkillPort 8 quickly pinpoints targeted content that connects formal, informal, social and mobile learning—when, where and how people want to learn. It also transforms web-based learning from a solitary event to a richer, continuous community-oriented experience that has strong cross-generational appeal and can be integrated with Talent Management Systems, intranets and portals.
Another big highlight of the conference was the keynote from General Stanley McChrystal, former Commander of U.S. and International Forces in Afghanistan. General McChrystal enthralled the audience with his perspectives on no-nonsense leadership and how it relates to modern warfare, business, and politics. He received several standing ovations and one point that really struck a chord with many attendees was when he spoke about empathy as a critical leadership skill. He reminded us all how much personal relationships really matter and that sometimes a handwritten note is an extremely effective leadership tool.
The customer sessions and workshops were also a huge hit this year. The feedback on the detailed case studies our customer presented was tremendous. Attendees found them incredibly helpful and many look forward to implementing similar programs in their organizations. The Solutions Fair, where customers had the opportunity to engage with product managers and see more detailed demonstrations of our products, was also a very popular event.
SkillSoft Perspectives was also full of lots of fun events! In addition to the 2012 SkillSoft Perspectives Innovation in Learning Awards Dinner where organizations such as the U.S. Army, Progressive Insurance, Stanley Black & Decker were recognized for innovation and learning success, attendees were also treated to a fun night at Universal Studios.
Congratulations to all the award winners and thank you to all the customers who attended. It was an amazing event and we look forward to seeing you next year!
