When it comes to balancing family life and a successful professional career, women often have to walk a very fine line. It’s a nuanced issue for many women, one still fraught with glass ceilings, outdated etiquette, and sometimes stifling pressures. So why is it so hard for women in particular to achieve true equality at top levels of the workplace while striking the right balance with a healthy family life?
Three women set out to find that answer and more in the book, The Orange Line – A Woman’s Guide to Integrating Career, Family and Life. In the book, authors Jodi Ecker Detjen, Michelle A. Waters and Kelly Watson interviewed 118 college-educated women, documenting their career stories down to day-to-day details and their pursuit of work-life balance. What did they find and what conclusions did they draw? You can find out first-hand by joining Skillsoft and author Jodi Ecker Detjen for our March 17 Conversations In Leadership webinar. Detjen will discuss:
- The findings of her research covered in the book.
- What women can do to empower themselves in the workplace.
- How women can reframe their career pursuits to achieve greater results.
- The meaning of the “Feminine Filter” and its impact on women.
Detjen has been a professor of management at Suffolk University since 1999 and has been helping organizations develop their leaders for over 25 years.
