We are pleased to bring you a guest blog post from the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University with a testimonial by one of their program participants. The IVMF is using Skillsoft’s content to advance the lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. The IT Skills & Certification and Business Skills & Leadership Training content equip service members, veterans and their families with the skills they need to be successful in business ownership, their careers and life.

After my return I began looking for ways to get into the technology field, to better my life, but the cost and time investment of doing so was simply out of my reach. I connected with someone on LinkedIn who introduced me to Onward to Opportunity-Veterans Career Transition Program (O2O-VCTP). Two months after applying, I opened my email to see my acceptance to the Veterans Career Transition Program; I couldn't believe it, I was in shock.
Fast forward four months, I landed an internship at Stanford Health Care. Once I completed my training with O2O-VCTP and testing for my A+ certification, Stanford Health Care called to offer me a job.
With this position in Stanford healthcare's IT department, a new door has opened up for me. Thanks to Syracuse University, a school with good standing, I now have much needed real-world experience. Also, because I was given a chance by people who didn't even know me, I now have job opportunities.
