“As the types of skills needed in the labour market change rapidly, individual workers will have to engage in life-long learning if they are to remain not just employable but are to achieve fulfilling and rewarding careers that allow them to maximize their employment opportunities. For companies, reskilling and upskilling strategies will be critical if they are to find the talent they need and to contribute to socially responsible approaches to the future of work.” – Klaus Schwab, Founder and executive chairman, World Economic Forum
Perspectives, our annual user conference, will take place April 15-17 at the Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando, Florida. The event is our opportunity to bring together customers, partners and industry visionaries to showcase organizations’ transformative learning and development programs that help prepare workforces to succeed amid rapid changes in digital technologies.
The recent World Economic Forum Insight Report, ‘Towards a Reskilling Revolution’ highlights the pressures on the talent market as well as the need for employer as educator. Therefore it is most fitting that this year’s Perspectives theme is “Accelerate Your Learning Workforce for Digital Transformation.” Our objective is to provide Skillsoft and SumTotal customers with the knowledge, expertize and practical advice to ensure they can strategically address the skills gap.
It’s hard to believe that this will be our 20th Perspectives conference. This year’s event is going to be really special. After discussions with customers and partners, we decided that for everyone to maximize their time and receive the most value, we would utilize our curation skills to design what I believe is our best agenda ever.
A bigger and better Perspectives
For starters, Ron Hovsepian, our executive chairman, will kick off the event with a keynote where he will lay out the plan for the next phase of Skillsoft’s evolution. Chief Operating Officer Chad Gaydos, Chief Technology Officer Apratim Purakayashta and Chief Content Officer Mark Onisk will each take a turn on the mainstage to give everyone insight into all the extraordinary new innovations customers can expect from Skillsoft, SumTotal and Percipio in the coming months.
Kyle Lagunas, one of IDC’s leading analysts on emerging trends in talent acquisition and engagement, will present key findings from his brand new research on the current state of digital transformation (DT) within the HR function. He will talk about the skills and capabilities that are vital if organizations are to succeed and he’ll break through the buzzwords to identify the real opportunities and threats that DT poses to HR organizations today.
As I said, this year is going to be different. We are hosting our very first Live Event as part of the main stage sessions and who better to launch such a move with other than New York Times bestselling author Daniel Pink? Taking from his newest book, When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing, Daniel will explain why he believes timing really is a science and a tool that we can use to make smarter decisions, enhance productivity and boost business performance.
Another first. This time we turn to you, our customer. We asked a few of our customers to join us on the Perspectives main stage to talk about digital transformation. Topics will include stories from the front and offer some best practices from which everyone can learn. Kyle Lagunas will moderate.
We packed our agenda is packed with over 120 sessions. Aware people want to get the most value out of their time, this year we’re using our well-honed curation expertise to divide these sessions into tracks that align with our major content and technology specialization areas. Attendees can choose from the following: For Skillsoft – Percipio, Compliance, Technology & Developer and Leadership tracks, and for SumTotal – Learning, Talent, Payroll and Workforce Management tracks. Each track features loads of partner and customer sessions, presentations and demos to really give attendees the types of information and resources they need to make their jobs easier and improve their outcomes.
First Innovation Awards lunch
Yeah, we changed this too. This year, winners of our annual Innovation Awards program will enjoy an exclusive, invitation-only luncheon hosted by our COO. These awards celebrate customer and partner successes in learning and development, talent management and workforce management. Got a story to share? We want to hear it. Be sure to submit your application by Friday, February 8.
First closing panel discussion
Another first. I’m delighted to announce a closing general session that will round out the event on Wednesday, April 17. Jennifer Brown, Stacey Gordon and Su Joun, three incredible voices in the diversity and inclusion space, will join Skillsoft’s Heide Abelli on stage to discuss “Enabling Diversity & Inclusion in the Modern Workplace.”
What we didn’t change is making sure attendees have loads of time for networking and having fun. The official Perspectives party — expect amazing food, entertainment and of course some mouth-watering drinks — will happen the evening of Tuesday, April 16 on Universal Boulevard, but there’s also all the other usual times like breakfast and lunch.
The full agenda is now available, so I encourage everyone to check it out and start marking your preferred sessions. If you haven’t registered, don’t worry, there’s plenty of time to take advantage of the early bird rate.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Orlando.
Tara O’Sullivan is the Chief Marketing Officer at Skillsoft.
