The good news is that Perspectives is now less than two weeks away. As I said in my blog, #Perspectives19: A Whole New Perspective, this year we are going all out to make it our best conference ever. We have over 160 speakers including bestselling author Daniel Pink, plus 120 sessions spread over 9 tracks, where people can get focused insights into very specific L&D and HR topics. However, Perspectives is all about the customer, so here are some of customers sharing their reasons for going and what they expect to get from the event this year.
Alan Lyons, Employee Development Specialist, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)
I attended Perspectives for the first time last year, and it was nothing short of a revelation. It was amazing to meet so many enthusiastic and gifted practitioners in the learning field. I learned a lot from virtually everyone I chatted with, regardless of location, industry, position or company size. The break-out sessions were more than just a “laundry list” of tips and tricks that I could bring back to my organization. Over the three days of the conference, the keynotes and the break-out sessions came together to paint a picture of what the future of our learning organization could grow to resemble.
Last year, I had the privilege of speaking in a Perspectives break-out session. I shared the story of how the TTC has leveraged Skillsoft products to create some unique and very effective learning programs. I’ve been invited back to speak at Perspectives 2019, which is exciting because we’ve got a lot of new and exciting developments to share, including some brand-new programs that have launched.
However, my talk this year will not just be an update on WHAT we’ve accomplished. The overall focus of this year’s presentation has changed to WHY our Skillsoft-enabled programs are so impactful to our employees, especially our front-line, customer-facing workers. While the title, The Meaning of Everything in 40 Minutes or Less, is a little tongue in cheek, I’m confident that attendees will walk out with a renewed and a sharpened sense of purpose. They will be reminded through some pretty incredible learner accounts, that the work we do as learning professionals is not just about purchasing and plugging in the latest technology, far from it. We are, in fact, one of the organization’s key connecting points between the digital domain and the human experience.
Christina Treadway, Director Learning and Leadership Development, Black Knight
Perspectives is an AMAZING way to learn about the top trends in learning, the latest learning technologies and new approaches in learning design. It also affords the time and importantly the opportunity to network with expert learning professionals from all over the world. The conference is dynamic, entertaining and fun! We are proud to attend the conference every year and look forward to all the valuable learning experiences! This year, we are presenting Learning Ignites with Gamification and plan to demonstrate how Black Knight is using gamification to increase learner engagement and participation in our core learning programs.
Victoria Baxter, Manager, Learning & Education, Ricoh Asia Pacific
As professionals, it’s common to feel overwhelmed and alone in our challenge to drive effective change through learning while balancing investment dollars, especially in large and diverse organizations, such as Ricoh Asia Pacific. Attending a global learning event like Perspectives provides a reminder that we’re not alone in these challenges.
Socializing with like-minded professionals in the learning space is the one thing I most look forward to at Perspectives. It provides the perfect vehicle to rub shoulders with the world’s best in learning, to share ideas, and to hear from the latest thought leaders in our space.
At Ricoh, we are leveraging the collective talents of our people in keeping with our corporate tagline of ‘imagine. Change.’, so we can imagine the future and change what we do today. Perspectives provides a golden opportunity to imagine the future of learning and change how or why we do things.
As a long-time partner, Skillsoft and SumTotal continue to provide immeasurable value to Ricoh Asia Pacific. I’m looking forward to learning and presenting, How Ricoh and Skillsoft/SumTotal collaborate to drive sales effectiveness in Asia Pacific, our partnership story at Perspectives 2019 in Orlando.
One of the many changes this year, and one I’m particularly happy about, is that we are closing the conference with a panel discussion on how to enable diversity and inclusion in the modern workplace. This is moderated by Heide Abelli and includes Jennifer Brown, Stacey Gordon and Su Joun, all thought leaders in the area of diversity and inclusion.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
And in more good news -we’ve extended early bird registration till April 5th, so don’t delay and register today.
See you in Orlando!
