About the Author

Jean C. Essila, PhD, is a professor within the management department at Northern Michigan University (NMU) and the Chair of the College of Business Strategic Planning Committee. He is the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Research Award and the 2018 Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award at NMU. He is also the Vice President for Planning for the Decision Sciences Institute Midwest region. Dr. Essila actively conducts research in operations management and research. He has authored several publications on a wide variety of supply chain topics. Dr. Essila has held top management positions in the oil and gas, carpet, transportation, and automotive industries, at corporations including ExxonMobil, Perenco, International Business Corporation, PWV Inc., Johnson Controls North America, and Harvard Consulting. He was the recipient of the 2004 ExxonMobil Merit Award in Recognition of His Outstanding Contribution to the Vision and Values of the ExxonMobil Organization. Dr. Essila earned a PhD in Business Administration from California InterContinental University, a PhD in Engineering from the George Washington University, and a Certificate in High Education Pedagogy from Harvard University.
