In this Bootcamp students will automate their intelligence gathering with R, an easy-to-learn programming language that takes care of tedious data collection and cleanings tasks. This course will give students the foundational tools they need to work with data in R and build insightful visualizations. By the end of this course, students will be able to import and clean data in R, define how data science is used commercially, and quickly build data visualizations. While no prerequisites are required, people with some experience working with data are best suited for this Bootcamp. Prior to the live sessions, it is recommended that you download and install R studio (https://rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download) and R (https://cran.r-project.org/).

COURSES INCLUDED

Introduction to R and Visualization Bootcamp: Session 1 Replay
This is a recorded Replay of the Introduction to R and Visualization Live session that ran on August 10th at 11 AM ET. In this session Dr. Veronica Red discusses Programming languages and their uses, R, Rstudio, Performing basic calculations in R, and Working with variables in R. They will also cover identifying correct naming conventions for variables in R, distinguishing data types (integer, character, and float), and an introduction to vector and matrices and their operations.

Introduction to R and Visualization Bootcamp: Session 3 Replay
This is a recorded Replay of the Introduction to R and Visualization Live session that ran on August 12th at 11 AM ET. In this session Dr. Veronica Red introduces loading and evaluating the dataset, addressing missing values in data, manipulating data types and structures using flow control structures (for loops, conditionals, etc), and demonstrating installing a package and loading a library. They will also define the six functions that provide verbs for the language of data manipulation, from the package dplyr, apply the filter function to subset data, and rank data using the arrange function.
