Norovirus is a common cause of gastroenteritis, or "stomach flu." It's a widespread disease, infecting over 685 million people worldwide and resulting in as many as 200,000 deaths a year. Noroviruses are a genus, or group, of viruses responsible for foodborne illnesses. Washing your hands frequently and thoroughly may help prevent this and many other types of illnesses and infections.
