Major investment from Skillsoft sees launch of tablet ready elearning courses for care industry

Camberley, 19th May 2014: Skillsoft, the international learning solutions provider, has announced major updates to its cloud platform to meet the growing demand for engaging, up-to date training content to address regulatory and compliance requirements in the care industry.

Following its acquisition of MindLeaders in 2012, Skillsoft has committed significant investment into the modernisation and expansion of its compliance course offerings and release of its new compliance LMS platform.

The investment has seen all MindLeaders care courses updated to offer customers content that is now fully tablet ready. In addition, the company has also launched a substantial catalogue of UK-focused health and safety and legal compliance courses. There has been a full design overview of learner materials, updating the look and feel of content, with ongoing investment committed to increasing learner engagement elements of courses, such as games, videos and exercises.

As all of the courses are now in Skillsoft's standardised format, the company's SkillStudio authoring tool now allows customers to customise courses to an organisation's specific needs by removing or adding components, changing media assets contained in the courses as well as changing branding.

"We have worked hard, and committed huge investment, since the acquisition of MindLeaders, to make this generational leap in the content and experience we are offering to the care industry," Mike Newton, Skillsoft's UK Director of Compliance commented. "Our learning solutions enable care clients to offer their staff access to compliance courses through tablet devices as well as PCs, which addresses the needs of often mobile work forces in the care sector. As well as offering the most up to date and legally compliant materials, we are committed to increasing engagement elements for the benefit of both learners and our customers."

"Care staff need the right training to both deliver their best performance and ensure they provide a high quality of care and stay compliant with the law. With the care sector currently undergoing challenges following BBC Panorama's revelations on the poor standards of care for Britain's elderly, it is more crucial than ever that providers look at training in greater depth. Good training is proven to increase performance, reminding employees of their responsibility. We are adding new courses to the platform all of the time, our next release will be a new version of our Administration of Medicines courses specifically for the home care sector."

Skillsoft will soon be launching a new e-commerce platform which will enable smaller care businesses to purchase licences for all of our latest compliance elearning courses for their staff as and when needed.
