Leadership & Business Skills: May 2021 Releases and 90-day Development Plan

The Skillsoft Leadership & Business content team is pleased to continue to bring you relevant and engaging content designed for the modern, digital learner. From events, to courses and digital books, and a book club, there is sure to be something for everyone!

We are pleased to announce that all five of our engaging Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) courses are now available in our Business library and our Legal Compliance library! Titles include:

  1. Workplace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Action
  2. Moving From Bias To Inclusion in A DEI Journey
  3. Recognizing and Addressing Micro-behaviors in the Workplace
  4. Adopting an Inclusion Mindset at Work
  5. Becoming a DEI Ally and Agent for Change

We designed these courses in partnership with thought leader experts La’Wana Harris, Su Joun, and Risha Grant, to educate on facts and inspire through storytelling. Each 30-35 minute DEI course is intended to resonate with learners, both emotionally and cognitively. Employing a documentary approach, we instruct on crucial DEI concepts, and inspire with powerful key features. Through real in-person interviews and roundtable discussions, these courses ignite emotion, conversation, and learning for our customers at all stages of their DEI journey! Skillsoft is also launching an exciting new Customer Service Curriculum developed with NueBridge LLC, a global consulting and advisory firm focused on customer experience management. The first two courses are now available in our Business Skills Library: Customer Service: Adapting to Your Customer’s Cues and Customer Service: Interpreting Customers’ Service Priorities. Each 30-minute course is intended to educate new and seasoned customer service representatives how to provide next-level service. Employing a scenario-based approach, and creative text treatments, these courses deliver instructional concepts through engaging situations and behavioral demonstrations. Look for the six additional courses later this summer.

May was our first full month of availability of our Digital Leadership Self-Assessment (Advance Release)! Developed in partnership with MIT Sloan Management Review and based on the work of Dr. Jerry Kane, as outlined in his award-winning book, The Technology Fallacy (MIT Press, 2019), this self-assessment is now available to Skillsoft Leadership Development Program (SLDP) powered by MIT SMR customers on our Percipio platform. In our May Leadercamp, Seizing the Upside of Turbulence, Dr. Donald Sull presented key insights based on two decades of research on organizations that have successfully seized opportunities arising out of volatile markets. Dr. Sull is a Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he directs the Strategic Agility Project and the Culture 500. He teaches courses on competitive strategy and strategy execution, and was a member of the committee that designed MIT's Master of Business Analytics program. He is also the co-founder and CEO of CultureX, which leverages proprietary AI to measure and improve corporate culture. Leadercamps are included in our Skillsoft Expert, Business Expert, and Skillsoft Leadership Development Program (SLDP) powered by MIT SMR.

How about a good book? Check out Off the Shelfour virtual book club for the modern learner. May’s monthly selection of Off the Shelf spotlighted The 5 Disciplines of Inclusive Leaders: Unleashing the Power of All of Us by Andrés Tapia and Alina Polonskaia. In this book, the authors show how harnessing the hidden talent in diversity and fostering an inclusive culture makes for first-rate organizational growth. In June, Off the Shelf features The Long-Distance Teammate: Stay Engaged and Connected While Working Anywhere by Kevin Eikenberry and Wayne Turmel. There is a big difference between working at home and being an effective member of a team. This book describes that difference and provides the tools you need to be a great remote teammate. This selection is available in Percipio as a digital book, an audio book.
