About the Author

Gene Siciliano is a financial management consultant. His business helps companies increase profits and enterprise value by developing and implementing more effective operational financial strategies. He collaborates with CEOs to develop, implement, and manage financial strategies that will improve profitability, enterprise value, and owner peace of mind. His tools of the trade include interim and part-time financial management, business planning, management effectiveness audits, due diligence and quality of earnings reviews, management workshops in financial management, and executive coaching. His Controller for Rent™ service provides interim financial executives to manage finance departments on an interim basis—for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years.

An active writer, speaker, and trainer, Gene is also the author of Financial Mastery for the Career Teacher and Finance for Administrative Assistants. His articles on financial management, business planning, and cost control have been published internationally. He also publishes print and electronic newsletters for advisors, managers, and owners of privately owned companies.

Following graduation from Penn State University’s Smeal College with a business degree in accounting, Gene spent several years on active duty as a Naval Reserve officer. He carries the permanent rank of Commander, U.S. Navy–Retired. Returning to civilian life, he joined Alexander Grant & Company (now Grant Thornton), a large international public accounting firm. In 1986 he founded Western Management Associates, the consulting business that he owns and operates today. In his practice he often serves as the part-time chief financial officer for client companies. From that experience grew the trademark of his business, Your CFO for Rent®.

When not in the office, Gene has served nonprofit organizations—both professional and charitable—as board chair, president, board member, and treasurer. He’s most often drawn to organizations that help children and adults with special needs. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis and the theater, both available in abundance near his home in Redondo Beach, California.
