As Storage Administrators, we have been part of various accounts supporting a number of large and small customers and have witnessed a number of incidents occurring in these accounts on a daily basis. In this article, we analyze the most common causes of high severity incidents in a Storage Environment and suggest best practices that can be implemented to prevent these from occurring. We also assess the risks involved in various processes in the SAN maintenance tasks and identify high risk activities among these as well.
