About the Authors

Dr. Susan Cartwright is a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Psychology at the Manchester School of Management, UMIST. She is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and has been conducting research in the area of mergers and acquisitions for over twelve years. She also has extensive consultancy experience in this field was herself a practising manager for many years. Her scholarship in the field is internationally recognised and her work has been featured in both The Financial Times and The New York Times.

Cary L. Cooper is BUPA professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at the Manchester School of Management, and Pro-Vice- Chancellor (External Activities) of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). He is the author of over 80 books and has written over 250 articles for academic journals. A frequent contributor to national newspapers, TV, and radio, he is Founding Editor of the Journal of Organisational Behaviour and co-editor of the medical journal, Stress Medicine. He is also a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, the Royal Society of Arts, the Royal Society of Medicine, the American Academy of Management and the Royal Society of Health. He is currently working on another book for the IPD on The HR Aspects of Mergers and Acquisitions (with Dr Sue Cartwright).
