About the Authors

Jaap Wesselius is an independent consultant based in The Netherlands, focusing on Microsoft Unified Communications solutions, and in particular, Exchange Server, Lync Server, and Office 365. Jaap is also involved with private cloud solutions, especially Windows Azure Services and, to a lesser extent, VMWare.

Jaap learned Unified Communications, including Microsoft Exchange Server, in his years at Microsoft. He worked at Microsoft from 1997 to 2006, both in support as a Technical Account Manager and in MCS as an Infrastructure Consultant.

Besides work, Jaap spends a lot of time in the Exchange community, such as with the Dutch UC User Group and the Dutch Network User Group NGN. He is a frequent blogger on his own site jaapwesselius.com, but you can also find an extensive selection of his articles on Simple-Talk (simple-talk.com). And if that's not enough, Jaap is a regular speaker at major events like Microsoft TechEd, the Microsoft Exchange Conference, the Quest Experts Conference, and the IT/Dev Connections conferences. For his work in the community, Jaap was awarded with the Exchange Server MVP award in 2007, an award that he has held annually ever since.

Michel de Rooij is a consultant at Conclusion FIT, an IT company from The Netherlands offering a wide range of IT services. His primary focus is on helping customers with their Exchange or Office 365 related challenges, but it may also touch on similar technologies like Active Directory or Lync.

Michel started his professional career as a developer in the mid-90s, but quickly switched to working on infrastructure-related projects, such as office automation and desktop/server migration projects. In 2004, he got a chance to do dedicated work on Exchange and related technologies for a large multinational, and since then Exchange has become his main specialization. He finds the heritage of being a former developer a great asset for dealing with all PowerShell-enabled products.

Michel is also very active in the Exchange communities, like TechNet or the Dutch Network User Group NGN. He authors articles for his own Exchange blog eightwone.com, and TechTarget (searchexchange.techtarget.com). He is also guest author for companies like ISV ENow Software (enowsoftware.com) and is active on Twitter at @mderooij.

Apart from speaking at local events and co presenting a PowerShell for Exchange admins session at Exchange Connections in 2014, he is a contributor to The UC Architects (theucarchitects.com), a bi-weekly community podcast by people with a passion for Unified Communications, focused on Exchange, Lync, and related topics. For his community work, Michel was awarded the Exchange Server MVP award in 2013 and again in 2014.
