About the Author

Thomas Saueressig is a member of the Executive Board of SAP SE. He leads the SAP product engineering board area and has global responsibility for all business software applications. This includes all functional areas, from product strategy and management to product development and innovation, as well as cloud operations and support. Thomas is also in charge of the global SAP Labs Network and the SAP Enterprise Adoption organization including SAP Globalization Services, user enablement, and the overall quality of SAP software products. Thomas has a degree in business information technology from the University of Cooperative Education in Mannheim (Germany) and a joint executive MBA from ESSEC (France) and Mannheim Business School (Germany).

Jan Gilg is the president of SAP S/4HANA, SAP’s flagship product that encompasses ERP, finance, and the supply chain. In this role, he has global responsibility for the development, delivery, and product management of SAP S/4HANA, SAP’s industry solutions, and the SAP Digital Supply Chain portfolio. With SAP S/4HANA, customers have the choice to balance standardization with customization when running their mission-critical processes with an intelligent ERP system. Jan is also a member of the SAP Engineering Senior Leadership team. Prior to his current role, Jan worked at SAP’s IT organization as the head of enterprise architecture and later as the head of IT business services. He reported to SAP’s global CIO, representing SAP IT internally and externally. In this role, he was responsible for implementing a significant portion of SAP’s product portfolio. He drove SAP IT’s agile transformation; in this way, his organization was essential in supporting SAP to become an intelligent enterprise. Jan started his career at SAP in 2005 as a consultant. He moved to the US in 2008 to lead SAP’s enterprise content management (ECM) practice for North American consulting. He then worked in the office of the CEO as part of SAP’s corporate strategy group on portfolio strategy and in the office of the CTO before joining the North America field organization in various business development roles as a value and enterprise architect.

Uwe Grigoleit is globally responsible for end-to-end go-to-market strategy and solution management of cloud and on-premise SAP S/4HANA. He ensures that this new innovation is picked up by all markets units of SAP and acts as a solution evangelist with customers, press, and analysts. In conjunction with the development organization, he works on the future strategy and roadmap of SAP S/4HANA, including the positioning of and messaging around the solution.

Arpan Shah is the head of SAP S/4HANA Cloud product management at SAP, and is committed to helping customers and partners be successful with industry-leading ERP cloud solutions. Prior to his current role, Arpan led several teams at Microsoft, including Azure Infrastructure, Office 365, and SharePoint. Arpan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Almer Podbicanin is the head of SAP S/4HANA portfolio management. In this role, he drives product strategy and innovation, ensuring SAP continues to design and deliver groundbreaking capabilities for customers in all industries and geographies. Almer started his SAP career in 2001 as a development manager for strategic development projects with customers in multiple industries. He later became the head of CRM development, responsible for large development programs and projects. A subsequent role as SVP and head of the Lean Center saw him leading the implementation of lean and agile development methods for 12,000 developers worldwide. Almer joined the SAP S/4HANA product management organization in 2019. Almer holds a masters in business administration from the University of Applied Science, Ludwigshafen.

Marcus Homann works for the SAP S/4HANA strategy team at SAP. In this role, he supports important strategic initiatives and takes care of critical customer requirements. Marcus joined SAP in 2014 and has had different roles in SAP’s support and engineering organizations, including development manager, IT planning architect, escalation manager, operations expert, and customer office lead. Marcus began his professional career as an IT strategy consultant at Accenture before he moved to the SAP University Competence Center in Munich, where he spearheaded key initiatives in the areas of data center infrastructure, SAP HANA, and SAP Mobile Platform. Marcus holds masters degrees in computer science and business information systems and has a doctoral degree in business information systems. He studied at the Technical University in Munich, the University of Bamberg, the Aston Business School in Birmingham (UK), and the University of Applied Sciences in Hof.
