About the Author

Liliana Buchtik, PMP, PMI-RMP, is a recognized project management author, speaker, and specialist. She is the author of the PMI-published Secrets to Mastering the WBS in Real-World Projects, and of Secrets to Mastering Risk Management in Real-World Projects. She is president of buchtik global, a firm that provides project management training and consulting services globally, remotely or on-site.

She works with leading organizations like the Project Management Institute (PMI), based in the United States, where she worked for five years as an Information Technology (IT) project manager, facilitator at PMI Mega Certification Events where PMP exam questions are created, and as PMI's Latin American Representative. She is also an advisor for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) from Washington DC, USA, on program risk management for a 200 million-dollar five-year program - Health Mesoamerica 2015- funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Carlos Slim Health Institute, and eight Latin American governments. She also teaches at international universities and business schools in Europe and Latin America. Liliana brings more than 15 years of experience from diverse management and project management positions in the IT and business fields, either in private or not-for-profit sectors, as well as in the government. She has also trained in the mining, construction and many other industries, including the risk management team of the biggest Latin American civil engineering Latin American program, the Panama Canal Expansion Program. She provides services in English and Spanish.

She is a specialist in PMI standards and has participated in the translations for A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), which is recognized as the global standard for the profession. She is a speaker at the largest project management events. Her articles have been featured in the most important magazines in the profession, like PM Network® and MundoPM. She served as an international correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today and has been recognized her for her outstanding support of the profession.

Liliana held key volunteer positions with PMI at international, regional, and national levels including being a member of the PMI Ethics Appeal Committee. She was the first PMI community mentor for Southern Latin America, integrated the first PMI Component Mentor Program Advisory Group, and was the president of the PMI Montevideo, Uruguay Chapter. She graduated from the PMI Leadership Institute Master Class in the United States. Liliana holds a bachelor's degree in Information Systems Analysis from ORT University, and has a diploma in managing people from ISEDE School of Business. Liliana is a native of Uruguay.
