About the Author

Mohan Nair brings a broad experience to business transformation as high-tech entrepreneur, educator, strategy consultant, and health-care executive. As chief innovation officer at a health plan in the Northwest/Mountain State region, Mohan leads a business incubation team focused on achieving a transformed health-care system.

Mohan founded Emerge Inc., a business advisory firm guiding clients challenged with business transformation. Mohan has been president of ABC Technologies, Inc., a leader in activity-based cost management software, now of SAS Corporation; and president/ chief operating officer of Protools Inc., which was acquired. He has also served marketing and engineering roles in several established high-tech organizations as well.

For over 10 years, he served as an adjunct professor of business and management with the Kellogg School of Management, teaching executive courses in supply-chain management and cost/performance management. He authored two books, An Executive’s Guide to Activity-based Management Systems and Essentials of Balanced Scorecard (John Wiley & Sons), and has authored articles in several noted journals and magazines, including the Journal of Corporate Accounting, the Journal of Corporate Finance and Accounting, and the International Journal of Servant Leadership. He has appeared on CNBC-Asia, PM Magazine in the United States, and Singapore Television as a cohost in a prime-time magazine program titled In and Around.

Mohan has served the nation in several capacities: as a member of the Armed Services Interest Group on Cost and Performance Management for the Consortium of Advanced Management International; as a member of the Government’s Committee on Performance and Accountability for the State of Oregon; and he has been called by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve on the AHIC Chronic Care Workgroup.

He holds a BS and MS in Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon and is an alumnus of the Advanced Management College at Stanford University. Mohan is currently the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Oregon Independent College Foundation, and he is also a board member for the Big Brother Big Sister Association.
