About the Authors

Terence T. Burton is Founder and President of The Center for Excellence in Operations, Inc. (CEO). He has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, materials management, purchasing, distribution, and management consulting. Terry holds a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of New Haven and an M.B.A. from Boston University. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, National LEAN SIG Chairman, and CPIM certified member of APICS. He is a frequent instructor/educator, speaker and author at various industry association events, and writes for numerous trade publications. Terry has written hundreds of articles on lean, Six Sigma, supply chain, and accelerated product development and is the author of four books published by Prentice-Hall and Harcourt Brace.

Steven M. Boeder is currently Plant Manager at Traex Company, A Unit of Libbey, Inc. He has over 23 year of experience in production, materials management, purchasing, distribution, quality, and information technology. Steve has extensive implementation experience in Lean Manufacturing and serves as a frequent instructor on the subject at the University of Wisconsin’ Management Institute. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from Edgewood College. He is a CPIM and CIRM certified member of APICS. He has also served as National LEAN SIG chairman of APICS.
