Unix and Shell Programming has been written for M.C.A. Ist year students of U.P. Technical University, Lucknow for their course "Unix and Shell Programming" in second semester. The book has been written keeping the syllabus in mind and precisely made simple with examples for their better understanding , It is also useful for students of other universities who are interested in knowing the basic concepts of Unix and Shell Programming.

The book contains introductions to Unix, the Shell and its structure, Shell Scripts with solved examples from previous years examination papers, concepts of writer process communication, system administrations, tools and debugger and the utilities/command of Unix.

About the Author

Archana Verma a Senior Lecturer in Department of Computer Science, I.E.C. College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida, affiliated to U.P. Technical University, Lucknow. She has been teaching M.C.A. and B.Tech students for the last three years. She earlier worked with T.C.S. for nearly six years as Assistant Systems Engineer.

She obtained Masters of Information Sciences (with distinction) in June, 1995 from University of New south Wales, Australia, and M.C.A. Degree (first division) from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak in May, 2004.

She has a flavour for teaching and is a dedicated teacher. Her practical experience in a premier software company and her passion for teaching make her a suitable teacher in a professional engineering college and a better equipped teacher to author a book for guidance of students.
