In order for cloud environments to operate efficiently you need to use automation and orchestration to keep things running smoothly. In this course, you will learn about the components and features of cloud automation and orchestration. First, you will learn about the features of infrastructure as code, continuous integration and continuous deployment. Next, you will learn about version control and configuration management and how it relates to orchestration and automation. Next, you will learn about the features of containers, cloud automation activities, secure scripting and orchestration sequencing. Finally, you will learn about backup and restore policies as well as backup targets. This course is one of a collection of courses that prepares learners for the CompTIA Cloud+ (CV0-003) certification.

IN THIS COURSE

  • 1m 48s
In this video, you’ll learn more about the course and the instructor. In this course, you’ll learn that for cloud environments to operate efficiently, you need to keep things running smoothly. You'll explore the components and features of cloud automation and orchestration. You’ll discover the features of infrastructure as code, continuous integration, and continuous deployment. Then, you’ll learn cover version control and configuration management. FREE ACCESS
  • 8m 21s
In this video, you’ll learn more about Infrastructure as Code or IaC. You’ll learn this is a key component of orchestration and automation, as it represents a means to provision IT infrastructure and manage it post provisioning through the use of source code. You’ll see this is something that’s applicable to both consumers and providers. FREE ACCESS

    3.  Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
    5m 27s
In this video, you’ll learn more about Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment. These are sometimes referred to as the CI/CD pipeline or continuous delivery in place of deployment. You’ll see this in itself is not a single process, nor a single operation. Instead, it refers to a methodology that allows application developers and DevOps teams to deliver code changes more often and more reliably in support of an environment that’s moving toward an automated implementation. 4.  Cloud Version Control
    7m 13s
In this video, you’ll learn more about Version Control and the part it plays in automation and orchestration. You’ll learn Version Control provides a means to coordinate the creation and organization of development code. It provides controlled access and updates to code that has already been submitted because software development tends to happen in teams. You’ll see it's important to retain a history of all code changes made to an application over its lifecycle. FREE ACCESS

    5.  Cloud Configuration Management
    6m 42s
In this video, you’ll learn more about features of Configuration Management. You’ll learn the role Configuration Management can play in achieving IT automation and an orchestrated environment by implementing your infrastructure management processes into code. These are the processes necessary for developing a server, a network configuration, or any other infrastructural component into a set of scripts. These can then be versioned and reused in order to help improve the integrity of infrastructure components. FREE ACCESS

    6.  Cloud Containers
    5m 42s
In this video, you’ll learn more about the use of containers as part of an automation and orchestration solution. You’ll learn containers allow for easier implementation, management, and migration of applications across computing environments. Containers are similar to virtual machines in that any given virtual machine is abstracted from the hardware of the host system, and it can be mounted on any compatible physical host without any kind of installation. 7.  Cloud Automation Activities
    5m 36s
In this video, you’ll learn more about implementing Cloud Automation. You’ll see this is simply the process of managing your overall cloud infrastructure and selected cloud workloads. The process works through a collection of software tools or scripts that perform tasks on-demand or in response to an event without any manual intervention. This type of functionality can be leveraged in any cloud environment, be it a Public, Private, or Hybrid cloud model. FREE ACCESS

    8.  Cloud Secure Scripting
    6m 49s
In this video, you’ll learn more about best practices for implementing secure scripting in the cloud as part of implementing automation and orchestration. This includes the use of Public Key Authentication, implementing a password vault, and using service accounts. You’ll learn automated processes must be able to access resources, and resource access requires authentication. However, since it's an automated process, no actual users access those resources. 9.  Cloud Orchestration
    7m 19s
In this video, you’ll learn more about the implementation of Cloud Orchestration with respect to how Orchestration differs from Automation. You’ll also learn how tasks are consolidated and sequenced in the cloud to produce an orchestrated result. This can be used to help improve workflows associated with implementing and maintaining your environment overall. You’ll see Automation tends to refer to a single process whereas Orchestration involves multiple processes carried out in sequence or ordered workflow. FREE ACCESS

    10.  Cloud Backup Targets
    6m 25s
In this video, you’ll learn more about the features of cloud backup targets, and how these fit into a backup and restore strategy in the cloud. When considering a target, there are several factors associated with the cost you might want to address. You’ll need to consider the costs of a comprehensive backup software solution for your environment to be implemented internally. What would it cost to deploy it and maintain it? FREE ACCESS

    11.  Cloud Backup and Restore Policies
    5m 55s
In this video, you’ll look at several considerations for implementing cloud-based backup solutions for your organization. These will help ensure the solutions meet your demands. There are several factors to consider. All should be given a degree of consideration beginning with whether any type of storage is included with your solution or subscription. If so, is it adequate for your needs? You’ll need to have an idea of how much data you need to backup. FREE ACCESS

    12.  Course Summary
    57s
In this video, you’ll summarize what you’ve learned in the course. In this course, you’ve learned the components and features of Cloud Automation and Orchestration. You explored infrastructure as code and its relation to Orchestration and Automation. You also learned about continuous integration and continuous deployment and their relation to Orchestration and Automation.
