The purpose of this training is to give some background information to those who are responsible for forklift truck drivers and those interested in becoming a trained forklift operator. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements, but is not a replacement for the Employer's legal obligations to provide basic training and testing as described in the HSE document L117 - Rider-operated lift trucks. Learner objectives are to recognise general engineering and capacity principles associated with forklift safety; identify factors that lead to forklifts tipping over; distinguish between safe and unsafe forklift operations; describe the differences between driving an car and a forklift; identify general loading and unloading principles associated with forklift safety; specify safe refuelling and recharging procedures; and list the steps to perform in walk-around and sit-down inspections. This course was developed with subject matter expert support by DEKRA – Global advisors for safety testing, consulting, inspection, and certification.
