Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease that's caused by a virus. Measles spreads easily from person to person and can lead to serious complications, including blindness, brain swelling, diarrhea, ear infections, and pneumonia. Although there's an effective and widely available vaccine for preventing measles, it remains a serious worldwide health threat.
