When RPG Group started hearing that employees didn’t feel connected to the company, they knew something had to change. But with 30,000 employees in over 100 countries, they needed some serious resources and commitment to make an impact.
And while they had a learning program in place, it was scarce, lacking both a consistent curriculum and a learning management system to power it all. It was a reported source of employee dissatisfaction. If the company was going to launch the One RGP initiative, a company-wide initiative for unifying the entire company, there was a lot of work to be done.
An undertaking of that size was going to be a long–term commitment, as rearticulating vision, values and building competencies takes time. For it to catch on, it would need to show results and build credibility with both the company leaders and the employee base.
The team decided the best way to build adoption would be to show business impact. Thus, they anchored the program to two critical priorities for the company: building the digital business and developing the company’s leadership team.
To get there, the alignment would need to go deeper than just the goals. The team built an architecture as well as frameworks for competencies. They carefully curated a variety of supporting content for their growing millennial workforce. The results were improved measurements across many indicators such as employee engagement, top talent attrition, hire from within, customer and employee satisfaction. Perhaps the most astounding of them all was the improvement in the results of their digital services business.
