Jobs come and go but people who are the "best at what they do" and who have achieved the highest recognition for their skills and knowledge in their profession are treasured forever. In time they are respected in their individual fields and are regarded as role models and stewards of their expertise. To achieve such status, these professionals do not see their occupations as "jobs" but as "careers" which not only puts money into the bank account but deepens their professional expertise, develops their team and inspires the young. While we may not have the opportunity to work for them or be mentored by them, the distilling of their career experiences, life's lessons and advice on achieving professional excellence can serve as rich insights to all aspiring career professionals. Author Ronald Tay speaks with 25 successful Singaporean professionals across diverse industries and professions, finding out the secrets of their success and draws on what we can all learn from them.
