Demystifying Technical Training meets an important need in the technical training industry. While there is ample information on soft-skills training and management development, technical training is an underserved market and there is very little information available. Yet, technical training is an important subject that spans multiple industries and is increasingly important to everyone's job. Technical training is more than Information Technology (IT) training; it is critical in the health care, automotive, manufacturing, oil and gas, utilities and financial industries, among others.

Given the paucity of information on managing technical training from a strategic perspective, this book addresses the gap by examining its history, providing key definitions, identifying important differentiators between technical training and other types of training and offering useful structures and processes for leading the technical training function.

Because many training and HR professionals shy away from technical training, this book is intended to demystify technical training and break it down into its main components. Interviews and case studies interspersed throughout the book show how the complexities and intricacies of technical training play out. Using the concepts and recommendations in this book can help managers and training professionals respond proactively and effectively manage technical training.
