WELCOME TO FEBRUARY!

WHAT IS "WELLNESS" AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR US TO LEARN ABOUT IT?

Many of us start out strong in January with goals to become healthier — join a gym, vow to go for a walk on our lunch breaks, eat more fruit and vegetables, drink more water ...the list goes on and on. And often by February those wonderful intentions begin to slip away from our list of priorities as we progress through our time-starved daily lives. That's why February is the perfect time to refocus on our Wellness.

Wellness encompasses every aspect of our physical, mental, emotional, and social health, as we strive to achieve balance in these areas in order to have a healthy and happy life. Learning about wellness is critical as it enables us to take charge of our health and make informed decisions about our lifestyle. By understanding the various components of wellness, we can identify areas that need improvement and take steps to achieve balance. This can include changes in diet, exercise routines, stress reduction techniques, and seeking assistance for mental health concerns. Prioritizing wellness results in improved physical health, increased energy and productivity, better mental health, and stronger relationships. Overall wellness also lowers the risk of chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, which all lead to a better quality of life.

So this month, let's endeavor to learn more about wellness so that we can become empowered to make positive changes that will have a long-lasting impact on our health and well-being. And be sure to check out this month's OFF THE SHELF bookshelf on Wellness Learning!
